Many of these products claim to help you lose weight, but they have little to no scientific evidence supporting that claim. For example, some products claim to increase HDL ("good") cholesterol. HDL is the "good" cholesterol. So, if you are going to take these products, I would highly recommend taking them with at least one supplement in your day. It is not that I don't want to lose weight, it is that I don't think the benefits are great. My husband doesn't want to give up his job and his retirement. He is retired, he's got health issues that aren't getting better. He is now overweight, I've been told he should lose weight. He's also a smoker. He is not an athlete. I'm not going to buy anything that he smokes or eats. I will be doing what I need to do to help him lose weight. It is not easy but I'm going to do it. I am going to ask for a recommendation from an expert. Please let me know what you think of my choices. - Dr. John A.
